Project Description:
This project aims to identify and characterize HI-selected galaxy groups from Looking At the Distant Universe with the MeerKAT Array (LADUMA) DR1 data. By applying a group finding algorithm to HI-detected galaxies, the student will construct a sample of HI-rich groups at z < 0.1. These group galaxies will be crossmatched with optical spectroscopic catalogs to assess their completeness and determine their optical properties. The results will provide insights into how group environments influence HI content and lay the foundation for future studies on various HI scaling relations in group environments.
