Study of crustal and surface magnetic field of radio pulsars

You are here

Project Description:

This project is about the magnetic field evolution and distribution in the crustal matter of a neutron star. In particular, the effect of the Hall currents on the Ohmic decay within the neutron star crust will be studied.
Research Area:
Astrophysics
Project Level:
Masters
This Project Is Offered At The Following Node(s):
(UCT)(UKZN)(NWU)
Special Requirements:
The nature of the project is theoretical. Hence the student is expected to have a good understanding of electromagnetism and to have the ability to do mathematical calculations. It will be an added benefit if the student has a reasonable knowledge in coding (in Python or C)
