The Honours Programme, which started in February 2003, is hosted at all 3 NASSP nodes: UCT, UKZN and NWU, and covers coursework in Astronomy and Astrophysics, Space Science, and Cosmology. There is also a strong computational component, setting students up for success in postgraduate research degrees, or industry.

The Honours degree consists of taught coursework plus a research project which students may choose from a wide range available, offered by scientists across the country. The degree duration is 1 year.

Entrance Requirements

Applicants should have, or expect to obtain a good BSc degree in Physics, Mathematics, Astronomy or Engineering.

Fees and financial support

Students accepted onto the programme will be considered for NASSP-DST-NRF grants.

Accommodation

Applicants should apply for accommodation at their respective chosen universities directly.

UCT applicants are urged to apply for residence places.
